Often an unasked Question

Every business has a sales funnel.

It can be simple or complex but everyone has one.

How do you replicate your process and get it online?

Unfortunately this question is rarely asked by web designers and developers, well at least it doesn’t look like it.

How often do you look at a website and you can’t work out what on earth you need to do next? Or, it’s hard to find the answer to your questions.

I asked a prospect the other day about their sales funnel and they  told me a story.

You see Russ, I don’t want to have too many people knowing my sales process, because they will follow what I do.

What do you mean (thinking WTF), I asked?

Well, for me to sell my services to someone I need to talk to them. When I explain how it all works, people just want me to do the job, but it’s all in the way I explain it.

How many other people do what you do? I asked

There are a few, not many though.

So no one else can explain it the way you do, is that it?, I said. Yep too right. Now this guy thought that the only process for selling his product was his way.

He said, Russ I don’t think there’s anything you can do for me. My customers won’t be looking for me on the internet.

So we sat down and had a look on the internet.

We found

  • 340,000 pages on Google for his search term
  • the top 3 sites we looked at, had all the information he thought was his big secret, out in the open for everyone to see.

This guy lived in his world and he was getting the same number of customers he always got. There was a lot happening outside.

Long Story Short

We sat down and mapped out his sales process. Looked at every step of his sales funnel.

We then replicated the process by setting up systems for him to help run people through his sales funnel.

What he didn’t realize was that having a website is just a part of the sales process, not the whole thing.

When we combined it with the other systems (both online and offline) of attracting the right customer and educating them into the purchase, all the while collecting intelligence of what drives them.

We ended up attracting clients on just a few keyword, which made the education phase shorter and when they were at the stage of making the phone call, they would generally ring to see when he was available to do the job. His success of conversions is currently around 90+% on phone calls received from the website.

This is because these people have been educated and nurtured through the sales funnel to the point where they feel comfortable and feel they have rapport with the company, so making a phone call the next logical step.

This system now generates close to 6 figures in revenue per year for this business.
